Description
How much could a poor resume be costing you?
A resume has to clear two hurdles: the automated resume reader and/or making a good first impression with the hiring manager.
If your resume isn’t keyword rich and if your qualifications don’t immediately grab the attention of the potential employer, you’re paying a big price in lost opportunity. If you are sending out resume after resume and yet not receiving the all-important contact for an interview, it’s time to give your resume a makeover based on current resume preparation best practices.
In this live workshop, you’ll learn:
•The five essential elements your resume must contain
•How to frame your accomplishments to showcase your ability to do the job
•Dealing with employment gaps and age issues
•How to structure your knowledge, skills and experiences if you hope to get into a new field of work
•Using keywords to capture attention and to tackle those automated resume readers
How You’ll Benefit
•Understand the contents of a power resume
•Know how to frame your experience to demonstrate measurable and/or observable results
•Feel comfortable in knowing when to switch between resume styles
Who should attend
•Anyone seeking a job and who needs to make a good first impression with their resume
•Individuals looking to enter a new field or switch careers and who aren’t sure how to structure their resumes
•Anyone who is looking for a job for the first time in many years and who may be unfamiliar with today’s resume practices
•Individuals whose resume may contain some oldie-but-not-so-goodie content
Workshop Materials
Session participants will receive a workbook full of good information (and some delightful quotes) in advance of the workshop.
You can learn and help other women all at the same time! Having been an HR VP for many years, Jane has reviewed thousands of resumes and brings a strong business orientation to resume preparation. In this interactive workshop, she shares what employers look for as they read and screen resumes. In the “second act” of her life, Jane volunteers at, and is a Board member of, the Charleston, SC Center for Women, a comprehensive women’s development center and recipient of a grant from Oprah’s Angel Network. Proceeds from this workshop go to the Center, and read more here why Jane is so committed to helping the Center and the women whose lives it touches.
